When the World is Ending…
Captain’s Blog: When the World is Ending…
Lavendate: 2025 - 04 - 26
Dear Lavend-lovers,
Thanks for hopping on my little ship and exploring with me. I’m trying not to be cheesy but I love a metaphor.
One thing that’s been on my mind lately is what we call The Struggle.
I think it’s more profound lately than it has been in a long time. Most people my age (20-somethings) are struggling. Everyone is but…
I think my generation was basically set up to fail.
I’m not trying to whine, but when pretty much everyone my age has to work 2-3 jobs just to make it above the poverty line and rent is sky high, you kinda want to tell someone about how fucked up that is.
Not to mention the fact that people are literally being kidnapped by the government and the word “transgender” is being erased from government vocabulary…
Anyway, a lot of things going on right now are really scary. They’re perpetrated by the same people. They’re enabled by people who it “doesn’t affect.”
All I can do is write about it and be fearful and hopeful.
I want to use my voice but I am struggling.
So I’m going to put it here and do the best I can to keep from breaking down.
I’ll talk more about this, I’m sure. I’m not the authority on what is actually going on out there, but I can be the one to talk about how it feels to me. Maybe other people feel it too. Maybe someone needs to hear that they’re not the only one who is scared.
One thing that is getting me through (maybe this will help you too) is to know that everything in the universe is cyclical. After the dark comes the light. After the pain comes the relief. After the fear is solace. All we can do is our best while we work to bring back the good. And when the bad comes again, we’ll know we can make it through.
Take delight in what small, good things are happening right now. A new job opportunity. A “hello” from someone you love. The breeze through an open window.
The only thing that gets us through is the hope that we’ll get through. And you will. And you can help other people make it through too.
Here’s a little haiku I wrote a while ago thinking about this.

"All We Have is Each Other"
When it feels like the world is ending, remember that also means a new world will begin.
